This is what makes English a great language. In fact, it is this sterling quality of English that had made it the language of a wonderful world empire.

ഇതാണ് ഇങ്ഗ്ളിഷിനെ ഒരു മഹത്തായ ഭാഷയാക്കുന്നത്. വാസ്തവത്തില്‍, ഈ ഉല്കൃ ഷ്ടമായ ഗുണമാണ് ഇങ്ഗ്ളിഷിനെ ഒരു അതിശയിപ്പിക്കുന്നതരത്തിലുള്ള ലോക സാമ്രാജ്യത്തിന്റെു ഭാഷയായി മാറ്റിയത്.

It was Lord Macaulay who argued for the teaching of this wonderful language to the ordinary people of British-India.

Lord Macaulayയാണ്, ഈ അത്ഭുതകരമായ ഭാഷ ബൃട്ടിഷ്-ഇന്ത്യയിലെ സാധാരണ ജനങ്ങളെ പഠിപ്പിക്കേണം എന്ന് വാദിച്ചത്.

The rich people of British-India could study English on their own. It was the common man’s children who had no opportunity to study English. 

 ബൃട്ടിഷ്-ഇന്ത്യയിലെ പണക്കാർക്ക്  സ്വന്തമായി ഇങ്ഗ്ളിഷ് പഠിക്കാന്‍ ആവുമായിരുന്നു. സാധാരണക്കാരന്‍റെ മക്കൾക്കാണ് ഇങ്ഗ്ളിഷ് പഠിക്കാനുള്ള അവസരം ഇല്ലാതെ പോയത്.

English East India Company decided to agree with Lord Macaulay.

ഇങ്ഗ്ളിഷ് ഈസ്റ്റ് ഇന്ത്യാ കമ്പനി Lord Macaulayയോട് യോജിക്കാന്‍ തീരുമാനിച്ചു.

English education was given to many school children.

പല സ്കൂള്‍ കുട്ടികൾക്കും  ഇങ്ഗ്ളിഷ് വിദ്യാഭ്യാസം നല്കപപ്പെട്ടു.

In many cases, the lower financial classes and other lower castes improved tremendously due to this.

ഈ കാരണത്താൽ‍, പലയിടത്തും, സാമ്പത്തികമായി പിന്നോട്ടുനില്ക്കുധന്നവരും മറ്റ് താഴ്ന്ന ജാതിക്കാരും അതിഗംഭീരമായി അഭിവൃദ്ധിപ്പെട്ടു.
