The other point that needs to be mentioned here is that there was always the ubiquitous presence of the tied-to-the-land, indentured slaves in the location. They were literally seen as cattle. It was the English officials who started noticing this great social anomaly. For, if the English administration had not taken stringent steps to crush this human slavery which existed without any statutory records, the practise would still continue. For, no one in India or Pakistan would really care to think of the plight of the downtrodden classes.

Even now, so many terrible things are being done upon human beings as well as on animals in the country. No one bothers.
