How the Platform Works

VICTORIA INSTITUTIONS is an online book sales platform where authors can publish and sell their books as clean, mobile-friendly webpage editions. Readers purchase books with a one-time payment and can read them online at any time.

VICTORIA INSTITUTIONS also publishes its own books on the same platform. All books — whether by VICTORIA INSTITUTIONS or by registered authors — are available on the same store page.

Registering and Submitting Your Manuscript

This programme is currently open only to citizens of India. Other countries and languages may be added later, but for now every author must confirm Indian citizenship at registration.

PDF, and the older .doc format, are not accepted Manuscripts must be uploaded as .docx, .odt, or .txt. PDF text extraction is unreliable and results in formatting errors, and the older pre-2007 .doc format cannot be read reliably by our systems. If your file is a .doc, open it and use "Save As" to save it as .docx before uploading.

Only English-language manuscripts are accepted at this time. There is no fee to register or to submit a manuscript for review.

There is no screening fee and no formatting fee unless you choose to have VICTORIA INSTITUTIONS format your book for you. See section 05 for the formatting choice, and section 13 for exactly how your royalty is calculated and paid.

The Review Process

Once your manuscript is submitted, VICTORIA INSTITUTIONS will review it before deciding whether to accept it for publication. Our review checks:

Automated review tools VICTORIA INSTITUTIONS uses automated tools, including AI-based systems, as part of its manuscript screening and review process. By submitting a manuscript, you consent to this. These tools flag possible concerns for a human to look at — they do not themselves accept or reject a submission. All final decisions are made by VICTORIA INSTITUTIONS staff, after reading the flagged passages themselves.

There is no fee for this review, whatever the outcome.

If your manuscript is not accepted, you will be notified by email with the reason.

If your manuscript is accepted, you will be notified by email and asked to choose how it should be formatted — see section 05.

Formatting — Free, or an Optional Paid Service

Once your manuscript is accepted, you choose one of two paths. Neither choice affects whether your book was accepted, and both lead to the same outcome — a properly formatted book on the store.

Unusual manuscripts The Rs. 3,000 + GST starting price covers a typical manuscript. Some manuscripts need more work — for example, course materials with many multiple-choice questions, heavy tables, or extensive footnoting. For these, VICTORIA INSTITUTIONS may quote a higher fee before starting work; you will always be told the fee and asked to confirm before anything is charged.
The VI-formatting fee is non-refundable once work begins If you choose to have VICTORIA INSTITUTIONS format your book and pay the fee, it is not refundable once formatting work has begun — including if you later decide not to publish, or if the book is subsequently removed from the platform for a policy violation.

If you choose to format it yourself, your submission moves to "Formatting In Progress" and you can let us know from your dashboard once it is ready for us to review and publish.

What Formatting Covers

Whichever path you choose, the finished result is a properly formatted webpage edition of your book, ready for publication on the platform. Formatting means:

Your text is formatted exactly as submitted. VICTORIA INSTITUTIONS accepts no responsibility for the content, accuracy, quality or originality of your work.

Cover Images

You may upload your own cover image at the time of submission (JPG or PNG, recommended size 400×600px, maximum 3MB). If you do not have a cover image, VICTORIA INSTITUTIONS will design one for you.

First three covers free VICTORIA INSTITUTIONS will design up to three cover images per author free of charge. This applies across all your books on the platform — the first three covers VI designs for you are at no cost.

Cover design fees, where applicable, will be discussed and agreed separately and are not part of the formatting fee.

After Formatting — Going Live

Once formatting is complete, VICTORIA INSTITUTIONS will carry out a final check before publishing your book. You will be notified by email when your book goes live on the store.

Once live, your book will appear on the store page at victoriainstitutions.com/sales/store.php and will be available for purchase.

You can monitor your book's status, sales and earnings at any time through your author dashboard.

Your book's store page will show Title, author name, description, cover image, language, category, and price. Readers click Buy Now to purchase and read.

Copyright Declaration and Identity Verification

At registration and at each book submission, you declare that:

Identity document required at registration A copy of a valid government-issued identity document is required from every author at the time of registration — Aadhaar, Passport, Voter ID, or Driving Licence. This is collected to verify identity and to provide a means of tracing responsibility in the event of a copyright or legal dispute. It is kept strictly confidential and used for no other purpose.
Payment and tax details are verified automatically Separately from the identity document above, the PAN, Aadhaar (where provided) and bank account details you give us at registration are checked through an automated identity-verification service before your first payout, to confirm they genuinely belong to you. You do not need to send us anything further for this — it happens automatically, using the details you have already provided.

Your identity document and submission timestamp are recorded. This makes it possible to trace and resolve any copyright or legal disputes that may arise.

VICTORIA INSTITUTIONS will remove any book within 24 hours of receiving a valid copyright complaint and cooperate fully with the rights holder.

Prohibited Content

Books containing any of the following will not be accepted on this platform:

Legal responsibility VICTORIA INSTITUTIONS reviews all submissions before acceptance but cannot be held responsible for the content of books submitted by authors. The author bears full and sole legal responsibility for everything written in their book. Submitting prohibited content may result in immediate removal of the book, suspension of the author account, and referral to appropriate authorities where required.
Books can be removed at any time VICTORIA INSTITUTIONS reserves the right to remove any book from the platform at any time if its content is found to violate any of our published policies — including after the book has been live for some time.

What We May Display on Your Book Page

VICTORIA INSTITUTIONS reserves the right to display the following on any book page, including your book's sales page and reader page:

The store page at victoriainstitutions.com/sales/store.php lists all books by all authors. Generally, no direct link to this store page will be displayed on your individual book page — we do not wish to direct your readers to competing books. However, VICTORIA INSTITUTIONS reserves the right to do so if considered appropriate.

What we will not do We will not display links to other authors' books directly on your book page as a standard practice. Your readers come to read your book.

Access Protection, Security and File Responsibility

All books on this platform are accessible only after a reader has made a payment. Access is protected by email address and password — a reader must register and log in before they can read any purchased book. The book content is never served as a direct file — it is delivered through a protected system that verifies login and purchase before showing anything.

The platform blocks the following for all books:

At submission, you choose whether readers may select and copy text from your book. Leaving this unticked keeps text copying disabled, which is the more protective setting; you can ask us to change this at any time.

File loss disclaimer — keep your own copy Your book files are stored on a hosting server. While VICTORIA INSTITUTIONS takes reasonable precautions, no hosting environment can guarantee that files will never be lost due to server failure, data corruption, accidental deletion, or any other technical event. It is the sole responsibility of the author to retain a complete copy of their manuscript and all related files at all times. VICTORIA INSTITUTIONS accepts no liability for loss of data stored on its servers.
Honest disclaimer on copy protection VICTORIA INSTITUTIONS cannot guarantee that these protections cannot be circumvented by a person with advanced technical knowledge. By publishing on this platform, you acknowledge and accept this limitation — as you would with any digital publishing medium.

How and When You Get Paid

The selling price you set is the final, GST-inclusive price the buyer pays. GST is removed from that price first; of what remains, you receive 70% as your royalty and VICTORIA INSTITUTIONS retains 30%, which covers its platform commission and payment gateway charges.

How your earnings are calculated — example You set your book price at Rs. 200 (GST-inclusive). This is the price the buyer pays.

GST removed (at 18%): Rs. 30.51
Net amount after GST: Rs. 169.49
Your royalty (70% of the net amount): Rs. 118.64
VICTORIA INSTITUTIONS retains (30% of the net amount): Rs. 50.85

If 10 copies are sold: you earn Rs. 1,186.40

This GST-first method is the same one used by Amazon Kindle for GST on Indian sales. The price you set is always the final price the buyer pays — no tax is added on top of it.

How payment works: Your royalty is paid automatically at the end of each month, by direct transfer to the bank account you registered, through the payment gateway arranged by VICTORIA INSTITUTIONS. You do not need to request payment or raise an invoice — it happens on its own.

Your tax responsibility You are solely and fully responsible for declaring your royalty income and paying all applicable taxes on it, including income tax and GST if applicable. VICTORIA INSTITUTIONS is not currently required to withhold tax (TDS) from your royalty, and does not do so — the full 70% royalty is paid to you. If this changes once VICTORIA INSTITUTIONS obtains the tax registration required to withhold TDS, this section will be updated in advance and any TDS withheld will be shown clearly against each payout in your dashboard. Either way, VICTORIA INSTITUTIONS has no liability whatsoever for your personal tax obligations beyond any TDS it may become legally required to withhold in future. This is a condition of publishing on this platform and is confirmed by you at registration.

Minimum selling price: Rs. 100. Free books are not permitted.

Payout schedule: Monthly. All royalty earned in a given month is paid out at the end of that month — there is no minimum earnings threshold you need to reach first.

You will receive an email confirmation when your payout is processed. Your earnings history is visible at all times in your author dashboard.

Editing After Publication

If you wish to make changes to your book after it has been published, please contact VICTORIA INSTITUTIONS at admn@victoriainstitutions.com. Changes to the book content will be assessed on a case-by-case basis and may attract an additional formatting charge depending on the extent of the changes.

Changes to the title, description, price or category can be requested at any time and will generally be made without charge.

If you wish to remove your book from sale, you can request withdrawal through your author dashboard. Readers who have already purchased the book will retain access. The book will no longer appear in the store or be available for new purchases.
