How the Platform Works

VICTORIA INSTITUTIONS is an online book sales platform where authors and publishers can publish and sell their books as clean, mobile-friendly webpage editions. Readers purchase books with a one-time payment and can read them online at any time.

VICTORIA INSTITUTIONS also publishes its own books on the same platform. All books — whether by VICTORIA INSTITUTIONS or by registered authors — are available on the same store page.

The publishing process in brief Register as an author → Submit your manuscript and pay the screening fee → VICTORIA INSTITUTIONS reviews your submission → If accepted, pay the formatting fee → VICTORIA INSTITUTIONS formats and publishes your book → You earn 80% of every sale.

Who Can Register as an Author

VICTORIA INSTITUTIONS accepts author registrations from India and from a defined list of countries where there are no restrictions on payment in either direction — that is, where authors can pay the submission and formatting fees to us, and where we can pay authors their earnings without any banking or regulatory complications.

Accepted countries are listed in the registration form's country dropdown. If your country does not appear in that list, we are unable to accept your registration at this time due to international payment restrictions.

Country restrictions Authors from countries subject to international sanctions, FATF monitoring, or where PayPal does not fully support receiving and withdrawing payments are not accepted on this platform. This is not a reflection on the author — it is a practical necessity driven by international banking regulations. We hope to expand our accepted countries list as the payment landscape evolves.

To submit a book for publication, log in to your author dashboard and click Submit Your Book. You will be asked to provide:

Alongside the manuscript upload, you will be asked to pay the screening fee through the platform. Your submission will be received once payment is confirmed.

PDF not accepted PDF files are not accepted as manuscript submissions. Text extraction from PDF is unreliable and results in formatting errors. Please submit in MS Word, LibreOffice or plain text format only.

Screening Fee

A non-refundable screening fee is charged at the time of submission. This fee covers the cost of reviewing your manuscript and applies regardless of whether your submission is accepted or not.

Non-refundable under all circumstances The screening fee is not refundable under any circumstances — including if your manuscript is not accepted, if you withdraw your submission, or if your account is closed. Please ensure your manuscript is ready and meets our content policies before submitting.

The fee is determined automatically based on the country you registered with. Payment is made through the platform at the time of submission. No submission is processed until payment is confirmed. Screening fees are tax-inclusive.

The Scrutiny Process

Once your submission and screening fee payment are received, VICTORIA INSTITUTIONS will review your manuscript. Our review checks:

Automated review tools VICTORIA INSTITUTIONS uses automated tools, including AI-based systems, as part of its manuscript screening and review process. By submitting a manuscript, you consent to this. Automated review is an aid to human judgment — all final decisions are made by VICTORIA INSTITUTIONS staff.

If your manuscript is not accepted, you will be notified by email with the reason. The screening fee will not be refunded.

If your manuscript is accepted, you will be notified by email and invited to pay the formatting fee.

Review time We aim to review all submissions promptly. You will always be notified by email once a decision has been made.

Formatting Charges

Once your manuscript is accepted by VICTORIA INSTITUTIONS, you will be invited to pay the formatting fee. Formatting will not commence until payment is confirmed.

Formatting fee is non-refundable Once the formatting fee is paid and formatting work has begun, the fee is not refundable under any circumstances — including if you later decide not to publish, or if the book is subsequently removed from the platform for policy violations.

Payment is made through the platform. You will receive a notification once formatting is complete and your book is ready to go live.

What Formatting Covers

VICTORIA INSTITUTIONS will convert your manuscript into a properly formatted webpage edition of your book, ready for publication on the platform. Formatting includes:

What formatting does NOT cover Formatting does not include proofreading, editing, correcting spelling or grammar, rewriting, improving or altering your content in any way. Your text will be formatted exactly as submitted. VICTORIA INSTITUTIONS accepts no responsibility for the content, accuracy, quality or originality of your work.

Cover Images

You may upload your own cover image at the time of submission (JPG or PNG, recommended size 400×600px, maximum 3MB). If you do not have a cover image, VICTORIA INSTITUTIONS will design one for you.

First three covers free VICTORIA INSTITUTIONS will design up to three cover images per author free of charge. This applies across all your books on the platform — the first three covers VI designs for you are at no cost.

Cover design fees, where applicable, will be discussed and agreed separately and are not part of the formatting fee.

After Formatting — Going Live

Once formatting is complete, VICTORIA INSTITUTIONS will carry out a final check before publishing your book. You will be notified by email when your book goes live on the store.

Once live, your book will appear on the store page at victoriainstitutions.com/sales/store.php and will be available for purchase by readers worldwide.

You can monitor your book's status, sales and earnings at any time through your author dashboard.

Your book's store page will show Title, author name, description, cover image, language, category, and price. Readers click Buy Now to purchase and read.

Copyright Declaration and Identity Verification

At registration and at each book submission, you declare that:

Identity document required at registration A copy of a valid government-issued identity document is required from every author at the time of registration. Accepted documents: Aadhaar (India only), Passport, National ID Card, or Driver's Licence. This is collected to verify identity and to provide a means of tracing responsibility in the event of a copyright or legal dispute. It is kept strictly confidential and used for no other purpose.

Your identity document and submission timestamp are recorded. This makes it possible to trace and resolve any copyright or legal disputes that may arise.

VICTORIA INSTITUTIONS will remove any book within 24 hours of receiving a valid copyright complaint and cooperate fully with the rights holder.

Prohibited Content

Books containing any of the following will not be accepted on this platform:

Legal responsibility VICTORIA INSTITUTIONS reviews all submissions before acceptance but cannot be held responsible for the content of books submitted by authors. The author bears full and sole legal responsibility for everything written in their book. Submitting prohibited content may result in immediate removal of the book, suspension of the author account, and referral to appropriate authorities where required.
Books can be removed at any time VICTORIA INSTITUTIONS reserves the right to remove any book from the platform at any time if its content is found to violate any of our published policies — including after the book has been live for some time. Neither the screening fee nor the formatting fee will be refunded in such cases.

What We May Display on Your Book Page

VICTORIA INSTITUTIONS reserves the right to display the following on any book page, including your book's sales page and reader page:

The store page at victoriainstitutions.com/sales/store.php lists all books by all authors. Generally, no direct link to this store page will be displayed on your individual book page — we do not wish to direct your readers to competing books. However, VICTORIA INSTITUTIONS reserves the right to do so if considered appropriate.

What we will not do We will not display links to other authors' books directly on your book page as a standard practice. Your readers come to read your book.

Access Protection, Security and File Responsibility

All books on this platform are accessible only after a reader has made a payment. Access is protected by email address and password — a reader must register and log in before they can read any purchased book. The book content is never served as a direct file — it is delivered through a protected system that verifies login and purchase before showing anything.

The platform blocks the following for all books:

Text copying can be enabled or disabled per book at your request.

File loss disclaimer — keep your own copy Your book files are stored on a hosting server. While VICTORIA INSTITUTIONS takes reasonable precautions, no hosting environment can guarantee that files will never be lost due to server failure, data corruption, accidental deletion, or any other technical event. It is the sole responsibility of the author or publisher to retain a complete copy of their manuscript and all related files at all times. VICTORIA INSTITUTIONS accepts no liability for loss of data stored on its servers.
Honest disclaimer on copy protection VICTORIA INSTITUTIONS cannot guarantee that these protections cannot be circumvented by a person with advanced technical knowledge. By publishing on this platform, you acknowledge and accept this limitation — as you would with any digital publishing medium.

How and When You Get Paid

Every sale of your book earns you 80% of the sale price. VICTORIA INSTITUTIONS deducts 20%, which covers its platform commission, GST on that commission, and payment gateway charges.

How your earnings are calculated — example You set your book price at Rs. 200 (tax-inclusive). This is the price the buyer pays.

Tax deducted (18% of net): Rs. 30.51
Net amount after tax: Rs. 169.49
Your earnings (80%): Rs. 135.59
VICTORIA INSTITUTIONS retains (20%): Rs. 33.90

If 10 copies are sold: you earn Rs. 1,355.90

This is the same method used by Amazon Kindle for GST on Indian sales. The price you set is always the final price the buyer pays — no tax is added on top.
Your tax responsibility The 80% you receive is your gross income from book sales. You are solely and fully responsible for declaring this income and paying all applicable taxes — including income tax and GST if applicable — in your country of residence. VICTORIA INSTITUTIONS has no liability whatsoever for your tax obligations. This is a condition of publishing on this platform and is confirmed by you at registration.

How payment works — Indian authors: Indian authors are paid monthly via UPI or bank transfer. VICTORIA INSTITUTIONS will transfer your 80% earnings — calculated on the net amount after 18% tax deduction — to your registered bank account once a month. For any queries regarding your earnings or settlement, contact VICTORIA INSTITUTIONS at admn@victoriainstitutions.com.

How payment works — international authors: International authors are paid monthly via international bank transfer (SWIFT). VICTORIA INSTITUTIONS will send your 80% earnings directly to your registered bank account in your home currency once a month.

Pricing and taxes The selling price you set is the final price paid by the buyer — tax-inclusive. An 18% tax is deducted from the sale price before the 80/20 split is calculated. Your 80% earnings are therefore calculated on the net amount after tax. Please set your price keeping this in mind — particularly if you are setting the minimum price of Rs. 100 or USD 1, which will result in a lower net earnings per copy after tax deduction.

Payout schedule: Monthly. Payouts are processed once a month for all earnings accumulated in the previous month.

Minimum payout threshold: Rs. 500 (India) / USD 6 (international). If your accumulated earnings are below this amount, they carry forward to the next month.

Minimum selling price: Rs. 100 (India) / USD 1 (international). Free books are not permitted. Note: at the minimum price of Rs. 100, after 18% tax deduction, your net earnings per copy are approximately Rs. 67.80. We recommend setting a higher price to ensure meaningful earnings per sale.

You will receive an email confirmation when your payout is processed. Your earnings history is visible at all times in your author dashboard.

Editing After Publication

If you wish to make changes to your book after it has been published, please contact VICTORIA INSTITUTIONS at admn@victoriainstitutions.com. Changes to the book content will be assessed on a case-by-case basis and may attract an additional formatting charge depending on the extent of the changes.

Changes to the title, description, price or category can be requested at any time and will generally be made without charge.

If you wish to remove your book from sale, you can request withdrawal through your author dashboard. Readers who have already purchased the book will retain access. The book will no longer appear in the store or be available for new purchases.
